2:The meanings this songs have to me may have nothing to do what they actually mean or even resemble what the songs suggests. I tend to cling to a single phrase within a song instead of the song as a whole.
3:I make no apologies for my conventional and clichéd musical tastes.
January
1:Laughing With by Regina Spektor- I spent the entire year of 2009 promising God that if he saved my brother's life I would never laugh at him again.
2: LA by Elliot Smith- Living in Los Angeles was one of the most trying experiences of my life. Even if it was only on the weekends.
February
3:The Underdog by Spoon - Spencer was the underdog. He prevailed.
4:Then by Brad Paisley - Guy and I celebrated our fourth anniversary on February 16th.
March
5:Christmas Song by Nat King Cole - Spencer came home from the hospital in March of 2009 to a house decorated for Christmas with a tree and all.
6:Christmastime is Here by Vince Guaraldi Trio - In honor of my dearest baby brother who loves Charlie Brown, here is one of his favorites.
April
7:Godspeed by Jenny Lewis - I saw Jenny Lewis in April at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California. It also reminds me of a dear friend who has been in an unfortunate relationship for far too long.
8:White Shadows by Coldplay- I was doing a lot of meaning of life searching and trying to figure out what I want from life.
May
9:3x5 by John Mayer (song officially starts at 2:30)- This was my official quarter-life crisis song. It was on repeat as I tried to deal with the idea of graduating from college and getting married.
June
10:Cheek to Cheek by Fred Astaire- My Father-daughter dance at my wedding.
11: Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson - Our first dance at our wedding and a song we've been listening to for a long time.
July
12: Everything by Michael Buble- Guy's birthday is July 12th and this song just makes me think of him and how fortunate I am to be able to call him my husband.
13:Mr. Brightside by The Killers - Guy's favorite band is The Killers and we saw them in July as part of his birthday celebration.
August
14: Daylight by Matt and Kim - I saw them at Street Scene '09 and really loved this song.
15: Love you Madly by Cake - I also saw Cake at Street Scene this year and this has been on my favorites for a while. We also used it as our cake cutting song at our wedding.
September
16: Samson by Regina Spektor - This song to me is about how I am the screw up in my relationship with Guy and no matter what I do, he still loves me and forgives me.
October
17:Wake Up by Arcade Fire - The was the theme song for Where the Wild Things Are which came out in October. Spencer also turned 18 on the first of the month and this song to me says so much about youth and growing up.
November
18: Epilogue by The Antlers - This is the last song on the Hospice album and its the first album that has made me openly weep. Just amazing. Listen to it.
19: Still Fighting It by Ben Folds - I did a lot of growing up in November.
December
20:Lisztomania by Phoenix - I saw Phoenix with some dear friends (among many other bands) and just love this song.
