"Sir, more than kisses, letters mingle souls; for, thus friends absent speak." -John Donne

A while back a good friend of mine, Michael, wrote a post about Saturday postal service and just how nice it is to get mail (In fact, if you email her your address she’ll send you something nifty in the mail, details at the linked post. Let her know I sent you). Most of the time the mail we find pushed through the slot on the door is a mixture of bills and junk mail, as it is for most of us I think. Wouldn’t it be nice to come home and find a pretty package on the doorstep or in the mail box? For the sheer sake of enjoyment I propose a mail swap of sorts.

What it is: This is the “These are a few of my favorite things” Mail Swap. It’s basically you in a box. Compile a group of things that represent you and what you love. Pack it up nice and send it off.

How it works:
1:Comment here so I can get an idea of how many people are interested
2:You send me the following information by April 17th.
•Your name.
•Your mailing address.
•Your email address.
•Your website / blog / flickr url (must be involved with at least one of these).
•Also please include any allergies and indicate if you are willing to ship internationally.

3: I will pair you up and send you your partners contact information by April 18th.
4: You make up a package of all the stuff you love, as in the package you would love to receive, and send it to your partner by April 30th. In turn you will get a package from someone.
5: When you receive your package post about it, link to this blog, your partner’s blog, and email me a link to your post so I can compile a list of all the great packages which were sent.

I think it goes without saying that the more people involved the more fun this will be so I'd appreciate it you would post about it on your respective website / blog / flickr so your friends and readers can be involved.

  1. Hey, as an avid letter writer, I think this is a great idea! I have pen friends around the globe and getting a letter in my mailbox just makes my day!

  3. Thank you for visiting my blog:))) You should offer a "prize" for the first person who comments (after me, of course) and that person should receive something for you. I am here because since I discovered you blog, I keep coming back.

PS: And my mailbox is quite full right now:))

  5. I would love to do this if it was a different time-- perhaps if you do it again in the future. Being in college with no car or job really put a damper on my package-assembling fun. I hope this turns out amazing!

  10. I agree with Vanessa - Sorry. This is such a great idea and I would love to participate in it. However my package wouldn't be fun to look at because I am also a broke college student :o| Plus, you just now decided to post it on 20sb! lol Please keep me in mind if you decide to do this again!

I'm following you! Follow me too at http://tiny.cc/TOAR
