"Pure water is the world's first and foremost medicine." -Slovakian Proverb

Last night, while we were preparing for company, the plumber came to turn off the water for a hour while he worked on the regulator that controls the water pressure in the house. Long story short, my parents had to get their septic replaced last week and when the turned the water back on one of the rusted out parts broke, so the water pressure into the house was very poor. We were cooking, doing dishes, and we still had one person waiting for the shower. What an inconvenience right?

And then after dinner, I sat down in front of the television to begin our friends and family Sherlock Holmes movie marathon, full of prime rib and pie and a nice full-bodied red wine I thought about the fact that around the world tonight, there are many many people who don't even have the basic human need of clean water.I was lamenting our luck that the pipes that pump clean, clear, safe drinking water right into our home and into a glass washed by means of the dishwasher weren't working quite as well as usual. Even if we theoretically didn't have indoor plumbing, the store down the street has bottled water. We have so much clean water that if I looked out the window right now I would see a good sized swimming pool filled to the rim with gallons upon gallons. And so this Thanksgiving I am thankful for clean water and thus....

November's charity is... Charity: Water in honor of my friend Mandi's 24th birthday.

Who are they, what do they do and how do they do it? Charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Watch the video below it gives you all the details about how they are changing lives and communities by providing them with clean water and letting the literal trickle down theory work.
