1. What's your story? (who are you, what do you like to do, any interesting facts?)
We are Eva and Christoph, 23 and 24 and we live, study and work in a small town in Germany. In our free time we go on hikes as often as possible and we do climbing and lots of other outdoor activities. At the moment we're moving in together and we even designed our small hallway in our new apartment to look like a tiny climbing area with a climbing wall.
2. When, how and why did you decide to make what you make (and sell it)?
One evening we enjoyed a glass of wine and talked about fashion accessories for men. After a little while we came to the conclusion that bow-ties are definitely the coolest accessory for men and that it's so hard to find interesting and cool ones at the shops or online. We also thought that it's a cool thing for couples to wear matching accessories like a hair- and a bow-tie. So we decided to 'revive' bow-ties and thought of materials we'd like to use. In the beginning we wore our handmade bow-ties and hairbows when we went out at night but after getting more and more compliments on how cool and unique our bows look, we decided to try selling them on Etsy.
3. What inspries you?
We are definitely inspired by the old-fashioned bow-ties from the 60s and 70s but we wanted to get away from the dusty image these awesome accessory. Additionally we always keep our eyes open for new materials that might look good when turned into a bow-tie. Most of the time it is just coincidence, we stroll over a fleamarket or clear out the garage and suddenly we see for example old license plates, a few hours later we have the prototype ready and wear it a few times to test it and see how others react.
4. Other than Etsy, where else on the web can we find you?
We recently sold some of our bow-ties to http://place-a.com, a little webshop based in France. This is the only other place than Etsy where you can get our bow-ties.
5. What is your creative process?
Oh, we've already answered this in question 3..
6. What's the last thing you bougth?
A cozy knitted woolen blanket and flooring for our new apartment.
7. Who are your favorite Etsy artists?
We especially like the jewellery and accessories from leanimale's shop on Etsy, her fox earrings are simply perfect! (http://www.etsy.com/shop/leanimale)
Since at the moment we are moving, we are always on the look-out for special furniture and decorations. We are fans of those awesome Etsians: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Junglai - http://www.etsy.com/shop/virtualdesignlab
8. Do you have any reoccurring dreams? What are they?
We just talked about this question and we have to say that we don't really have reoccurring dreams but that many of our dreams circle around traveling, our future and food ;)
